With Crowdfund Crawler, our goal is to showcase Midwestern art and music campaigns worthy of your time, attention, and perhaps most importantly, your hard-earned money.
For our first installment, we’re throwing our support behind Chicago pop rockers The Hudson Branch and their effort to raise money for the recording of their third studio album.
After experimenting with soul, R&B, electronic, and pop styles led to the creation of 23 new songs at the beginning of 2013, The Hudson Branch visited the Chicago Recording Company in June to lay down two singles. The result of those sessions can be heard in “You Don’t Know Me” – a slow-building, indie pop track that’s as catchy as it is calming.
Having selected 8 to 10 tracks from the original 23, The Hudson Branch plans to return to the CRC this fall to finish the album.
As of writing this, the album’s Kickstarter campaign has raised a little over $1,500 of its $10,000 goal. That may seem far from the finish line, but with 19 days left to pledge, the group has plenty of time to reach their goal.
The money raised will be put towards the remaining studio time, mixing and mastering, and the pressing of both CD and vinyl copies of the album. Fittingly, on the “material goods” side of things, pledge perks include autographed CDs, limited edition Hudson Branch t-shirts, and vinyl.
Next time you’re at the bar, switch to PBR for the night, save a few bucks, and help to support independent, local music!
