After spending his formative years in Vermont and New York, I’m certainly happy that visual artist, Adam DeVarney, found his way to Chicago. DeVarney graduated in 2006 from the Pratt Institute, and since 2009, has been exhibiting his work predominately in the Northeast, but more recently in Illinois as well.
DeVarney’s work is a combination of drawing and collage on wood panel. The morose and haunting characters are depicted with a loose line quality and jarring colors.
I selected some of my favorite pieces of DeVarney’s to share below. For more portraiture, be sure to visit his website, listed after the gallery.
