With four years of past experience bringing music and art together, Weapons of Mass Creation is back working on its fifth. WMCFest has scheduled three days of art, music, and industry talks for an expected 2,000+ attendees. With what an extensive line-up they have planned, Midwest Action is here to help you sort through some of it.
You’ve made it through the Friday evening kick-off, and now for everything to really kick in gear. Saturday marks the start of the Weapons of Mass Creation artists’ lectures and workshops, and the continuance of great music. We’ve sifted through the Saturday schedule and picked a few note-worthy events by Midwestern souls.
Sonnenzimmer | JakPrints Main Stage at 11:15AM
Sonnenzimmer is a Chicago-based art and screen printing studio run by Nick Butcher and Nadine Nakanishi. They’re first to take the stage on Saturday, and we’re excited to be some of the early birds to hear their talk.
Good Times and Collaboration | Columbia College Chicago Workshop Room at 12:15-1:15PM
Join the WMC Fest veterans Dan Christofferson, Nate Utesch, and Dan Cassaro for another year of fun, good times, and, well, collaboration!
Texas Plant | Gumroad Beer Garden at 2:00PM
Folk-punk rockers, Texas Plant, will bring an undoubtedly energetic set to the Gumroad Beer Garden. WMCFest is featuring an eclectic group of (mostly) local musicians over the weekend, and we guarantee no one else is going to rock quite like these guys. I mean, they have a washboard player – need we say more?
Kevin Devine | JakPrints Main Stage at 8:00PM
Hailing from New York, Kevin Devine is gracing the audience at Weapons of Mass Creation with a solo acoustic set. This musician, previously associated with acts such as Bad Books, Miracle of ’86, and Brand New, is rumored to be just as good, if not better, solo than with a backing band. The only way to really find out is to make your way to the JakPrints Stage when he plays.
Tickets for Saturday can be purchased for $55 here; if you’re planning on attending all weekend, pick up a $100 three-day pass here. If you’re looking for something a bit in-between, peruse their ticket options; WMCFest offers varying ticket packages depending on what your availability and interests might be.
Weapons of Mass Creation is held in the Gordon Square Arts District of Cleveland, OH from August 15th to 17th. All ages welcome. We’re looking forward to seeing you!
