Give It A Spin: “Take Me Home” by Vinyl Theatre

Yesterday, 2/4, saw the release of “Take Me Home”, the second single from Vinyl Theatre‘s upcoming EP, Chromatic. The Milwaukee quartet has made major strides since their official inception less than a year ago. Their brand of indie rock blended with electronica and pop has earned them opening slots for national acts like twenty-one pilots and Royal Teeth.

The band lists The Killers, The Shins, and Death Cab For Cutie amongst their influences, but in “Take Me Home”, I find a more apt comparison to the big harmonies, energy, and playfulness of groups like Motion City Soundtrack and The Wombats.

At the end of the day, “Take Me Home” is just a great pop/rock tune. Vinyl Theatre manages to hit every mark from the first two beats of the drum to the echo-fueled outro chant and everything in between. Take a listen to the single below.

If you like what you hear, you can grab “Take Me Home” and the EP’s first single, “If You Say So” from iTunes for the standard $0.99. Chromatic will get the release show treatment with a free show at Milwaukee’s Yield Bar on 2/22. Check out the event page for full details.
