Psychedelic Sunday: Pink Frost & Outer Minds at Empty Bottle – 9/28

The guys of Pink Frost (formerly Apteka) are no strangers to guitar driven psychedelic rock, but their latest release Sundowning is easily the band’s strongest album to date.

The Chicago quartet found a home on local independent label, Notes and Bolts, a few years back, releasing a cassette and a 7″ that fit right in with the label’s shoegazing roots. This most recent 9 song LP finds the band working with a more defined, guitar-heavy, brand of rock music, minus the layers of hazy shoegaze, and it’s fantastic.

The band has put this release out in style, partnering with local Logan Square based label, BLVD Records, and Notes and Bolts to release Sundowning in a beautiful 12″ vinyl package that is limited to 500 copies. CD copies are also available for a mere $10, while the limited run LP will run you $14.

Check out the track “Dead Cities” below, and heading over to BLVD Records online store to pick up this modern rock gem.

Pink Frost is playing a record release show on Sepetember 28th, with fellow Chicago psych acts Outer Minds and Touched by Ghoul. The lineup is sure to provide some head banging good times at the Empty Bottle this weekend.

Also, it’s FREE with RSVP, head over to ticketweb and go through the order process to get your name on the list. If you don’t like free things you can also pay $8 for General Admission. Enjoy some great local bands and support them by picking up some merch this Saturday.
