The Way Down Wanderers are five kindred spirits that hail from Peoria and create some gorgeous folk tunes whenever they come together on stage or in the studio.
Their recent 5-track EP is part folk, part bluegrass, but entirely full of soul. The band creates layers of lush instrumentation that serve as a perfect soundscape for their gorgeous vocal harmonies. Their live show is full of energy and just a damn good time. They’re one of those bands that you can tell has a lot of fun doing what they do. Check out “Blue Sky Song” below:
Opening act, Chicago Farmer, is the moniker singer/songwriter Cody Diekhoff has been performing and recording under for over a decade now. He’s a working-class folk musician to his core and has released a number of great albums and EPs over the years. His most recent release, Backenforth, IL, is an upbeat folk-pop album with songs that blur the lines between Woody Guthrie’s songwriting and the old rock n’ roll dance hits from the likes of Buddy Holly.
You can catch both bands live tomorrow night at SPACE in Evanston (1245 Chicago Ave). The show starts at 7:30 (doors at 6:30pm) and will only run you $12 to get in.
