The heavy rocking four piece Rabble Rabble are getting ready to release an incredible new record a week from Friday. To celebrate, they’re getting together at the best place in the city for loud, unapologetic rock, The Empty Bottle. The new LP, Brain Hole, will get it’s official release in style on June 13th and will be available as a digital download as well an LP (for the purists). Here’s a taste of what you’re in for.
Brain Hole takes the band to a whole new level. While the shredding guitar solos and hard hitting drums are still there, the band’s songwriting has taken on a new life. With the help of producer Philip Karnats (Secret Machines, Tripping Daisy, Polyphonic Spree) they’ve crafted an album of 9 brilliant songs that range from droning psych rock to all out punk rock. On top of that, they recently premiered a fantastic new music video for the track “Broke” that pretty much sums up the band’s “don’t give a fuck” attitude.
Joining the Rabble’s for the evening are local rock duo Redgrave, the project of Angie Mead (guitar, vox) and Stephen Howard (drums). I hate to compare them to every other guitar and drum rock duo out there (ie: The Black Keys, White Stripes, Deep Vally, The Kills, and so on) but while they encompass elements of all of these bands their sound is very much their own. Angie Mead’s vocals sound as though they’d fit right in alongside Led Zeppelin or even Black Sabbath. Hear for yourself.
Adding to the fun, Chicago’s Blasted Diplomats will open the evening with their brand of dirty garage rock. Loud Loop Press called their debut album “the most Midwestern, blue-collar rock and roll record out of Chicago this year… ” and we can’t help but agree.
Fellow Chicago rock trio, Vamos will be DJ’ing the whole night, and in the immortal words of Rabble Rabble, “This should be a total shitshow.” Be there, here are the specifics:
