MWA Approved: Caley Conway and the Lucy Cukes EP Release at Linneman’s – 3/14

I was first introduced to the sweet, soulful vocal stylings of Caley Conway on Take Things As They Come. Damn, they were powerful and undeniably awesome, reminding me of traditional songwriting and vocal qualities. You can imagine my surprise when I realized that she’s actually quite an accomplished musician in her own right, writing songs and releasing them with her bandmates/childhood friends as Caley Conway and the Lucy Cukes.

If we’re talking about booking a perfect bill (and we are), then look no further than dUPONd DUPONt. The quartet’s narrative lyricism and folky instrumentation are enchanting, with banjo, violin, and emotive vocals being perfect lead-ins to Caley Conway and the Lucy Cukes. Dupond Dupont and CCLC go together like cheese and Wisconsin. Sorry (really), but it had to be said. Joking aside, the two bands fit like missing pieces of a puzzle and will round the bill out nicely.

Once they take the stage, prepare yourselves for some damn fine music. Caley’s quirky lyricism is backed by the folk stylings of her Lucy Cukes, made up of Rob Weiss, Alex Heaton, and Tim Stone. These musicians team together to create a comfortable and interesting blend of songs, infusing country and pop sensibilities as well. The Discipline Soup EP was released online in January of this year and is now being celebrated with some of Milwaukee’s most talented.

Also playing this evening are Cat Ries and Lady Cannon.

Caley Conway and the Lucy Cuke’s EP release begins promptly at 8:00pm at Linneman’s. A $5 cover will get you in the door, so there’s no excuse to not get out and enjoy some awesome local music.  Anyone who’s anyone will be there, so RSVP on Facebook and look forward to a truly fantastic evening.
