Give It A Spin: “Going Home” by Stomatopod

The current wave of 90s nostalgia has picked up enough momentum to tear a hole in the fabric of time, and from that tear Stomatopod has broken through. By the sound of “Going Home,” the first single from their debut LP Air By the Ton, this temporal phenomena occurred as the trio were waiting to play a set on the roof of Empire Records.

If not from the past, alt-rockers Stomatopod are at least most definitely from Chicago. They nail it when describing themselves as both a “power trio” and “grunge revivalists,” as this new song sounds like Mudhoney and Material Issue got hot and heavy on a pile of cassette tapes and flannel shirts. The chugging starts as soon as you hit the ‘play’ button, and by the second chorus you’ll know the words.

Air By the Ton comes out on October 2nd, and can be pre-ordered here (vinyl, digital download). Stomatopod have several dates lined up across the midwest this fall. Details below:
