MWA Approved: Mo Lowda & the Humble | Forest & the Evergreens at Beachland Tavern

Jordan Caiola’s voice comes served up with enough grit that you’ll question how many years this man has lived. That’s the thing about Mo Lowda & the Humble: they catch you off guard. There’s something about them that’s so familiar–maybe they bring to mind a band like Cold War Kids or Kings of Leon at its most bombastic, but it’s not a sound that’s polished so cleanly by the industry that it loses its organic quality.

Pair that up with co-headliners Forest & the Evergreens’ (pictured above) expansive soulful sound and you’re in for a hot night that’s gonna make you forget the frigid temperatures outside. The Columbus-based quintet creates young funk, a genre all unto themselves which combines elements of neo-soul and R&B, built around the sultry voice of frontman Parker Muntz and the menagerie of swanky horns from which that voice rises.

But before these out-of-towners get things hot and heavy, local boys Newshoes are gonna prove that Cleveland knows how to rock with explosive choruses and heavy guitar riffs. Can you handle this one, Cleveland?
