As the year draws to a close, music aficionados and journalists alike are scrambling to construct their year-end lists, citing la creme de la creme in 2014’s musical offerings. Polyvinyl pop quintet Alvvays is getting a lot of attention across the board–from a Rolling Stone placing in the top songs of the year (weighing in at #11) to a session at KEXP and even being the cover artists for Exclaim! in their home country of Canada. The band’s delicate blend of melody-driven pop with tongue-in-cheek lyricism is dream-inducing. Check out the video for “Next of Kin” as an example of their intoxicating pop goodness.
Alvvays rolls into Cleveland this Saturday, December 13th, alongside Baltimore’s Sun Club and Cleveland’s own Likenesses, at the Beachland tavern. We think it goes without saying that this show is NOT TO BE MISSED. The doors open at 7:30pm and the show begins at 8:30pm. Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 day of show and available here.
