While plenty of artists play venues around this country to promote their music, it’s a whole different game when a band kicks off a tour that consists of playing every night in venues all the way from Michigan to California – and doing it all from a van. Now that, in my humble opinion, gives a band “hero” status and certainly peaks my interest. This is the case with Michigan’s The Hounds Below who have been making their way (literally) everywhere to bring the world their awesome blend of post-punk indie rock with an interesting hint of classic rock and roll.
The Pizza Tour began in Ohio at the end of January to promote their 2012 debut, You Light Me Up in the Dark. From there, it was non-stop gigs through the Midwest, the South, Canada, and the West Coast. If they aren’t playing, they’re traveling, and if they aren’t traveling… well, you get the idea.
The Hounds Below began as a side project of lead singer Jason Stollsteimer (frontman of The Von Bondies) but became its own entity in 2012. These gentlemen have played everywhere, including a few SXSW appearances, and with some of the biggest names in music, but this marks their first headline tour.
While The Hounds Below are performing their steadiest tracks from You Light Me Up in the Dark, they’re also premiering some new tunes for 2014. Their latest track, “Xx”, is an awesome representation of why this band is quickly becoming famous.
The tour is on its final leg with Chicago as the second-to-last stop before the boys head home to Michigan to play at The Loving Touch. But before they rock their home state, they are swinging by The Hideout, one of Midwest Action’s favorite venues, to rock the place with their 50s/90s rock and roll. Tickets are going to cost you $10 ,and show starts at 10pm. Other bands that night include Software Giant and Save The Clocktower. If you’d like to secure those tickets now, click HERE.
