Midwest Action Acoustic at Cafe Mustache – 1/17

After a very successful Midwest Action show at The Empty Bottle last Thursday, it’s time for us to settle down a bit with an acoustic show at Cafe Mustache featuring some of the best pop and folk rockers that the Windy City has to offer. It’s going to be an amazing night so you’re going to want to make your way out to Milwaukee Ave. for a cup of coffee, maybe a beer, and some awesome tunes.

The night will kick off with the ever talented Tim & Kyle Streit of the band Bad Saddles, followed quickly by Yoo Soo Kim (front man for indie pop rock band Hemmingbirds) and then to finish off the night we’ve got Folk-rock band Joyeux.

Bad Saddles

Bad Saddles are the best damn rock band in the Rock Island District. Joined by percussionist/guitarist Nick Domberg, the trio is sure to get you warmed up nicely. They are relatively new to the music scene of Chicago but they are dedicated to making music and playing for what they call “true music fans”. Hopefully that includes you and I (and I think it will).

Hemmingbirds

Hemmingbirds are no stranger to Chicago’s music venues as well as Midwest Action, but for this show Yoo Soo Kim will be representing the gang solo. Between their extensive tour schedule and time spent writing & recording new music,  it’s no wonder that Hemmingbirds have become a noticeable figure in the Chicago music scene over the last few years.

A band that started as a solo project back in 2009 has come very far, but on Friday Yoo Soo will take us back to those roots with his solo acoustic set. However if you need a preview of what you can expect from the set, here is their latest music video for “My Love, Our Time is Now” featuring the full band:

Wrapping up the night for us is none other than Joyeux.  Fronted by the two very  talented singer/songwriters Dan Bordonaro and Chase Paul, this Folk-rock band is quickly gaining ground in the Midwestern music scene. The duo create a wonderful mix of folk harmonies and rock tunes that promise to make you sway and have a great night.

They are currently recording debut LP in Pilsen with engineer Daniel Escauriza, and guest musicians Tommy Trafton (Santah), Jeff Lyman (Dead Sheriff), Dan Wean (Dick Prall Band), and Matt Margeson (Jip Jop). If you can’t wait for Friday and need a quick preview here is their newest track “If I Were You”.

Cafe Mustache is located at 2313 N. Milwaukee Ave,  and the show will be kicking off at 9pm. Come out early for a good cup of coffee or a cup of homemade soup and grab a seat up front so you can see everything.

The Midwest Action team will be out there so join us for a night of acoustic goodness. If you’d like to RSVP you can check out the event details all right here.  We’ll see you there!
