Just last week, Chicago’s Hemmingbirds premiered their music video for “My Love, Our Time is Now” over on Pop ‘stache. This outfit is certainly doing something right; between performances on Daytrotter, Rooftop Sessions, Do Division, and Taste of Chicago, you’ve almost got to wonder when they have time to do anything else. And then, the band announces a show with Elsinore and Brighton MA, and you totally lose your marbles.
Their second album, The Vines of Age (2012), is everything you could wish for in an indie rock album. It’s melodic and energetic and grand. As a huge fan of Death Wave (2010), I was curious to see how The Vines of Age would follow-up, and I couldn’t be more pleased. Hemmingbirds have never been a band to disappoint, and their live show carries as much infectious energy as their album.
On Friday, you’ll find Hemmingbirds at the SubT. Check out their new video below, and prepare to see them rock out (on stage, this time) on Friday.
Headlining on Friday are Champaign-Urbana rockers, Elsinore. Elsinore’s newest album, PUSH/PULL, was released in early October, but the band will officially release it at the Subterranean, making for a very special evening. You may recall our recent review of “Ultraviolence”; fans of that song will be happy to hear that Elsinore plans to perform tracks from PUSH/PULL Friday evening.
Also on the bill are Brighton MA. Rounding out the evening, Brighton MA brings with them a noise-pop aesthetic. Having previously shared the stage with acts such as Spoon and Arcade Fire, the outfit may now add Hemmingbirds and Elsinore to that list. Enjoy their sophomore album, Oh Lost (2013), below:
