Scott Sweeney at The Beat Kitchen – 8/23

Scott who? Alright, so he’s not the biggest name when it comes to the Chicago scene but you’ll be able to say you discovered him right here. Scott Sweeney is a born and raised Chicago boy who enjoys some softball and Dominoes Pizza while making sweet music on the side. Self described as “Chuck Berry mixed with a puppy”, you can’t help but fall in love with Mr. Scott Sweeney.logoPopping in and out of the pop rock world for almost 8 years, Scott decided he had enough and went solo. In 2010, he self released the record entitled Dear Disaster and has been bouncing around the Chicago venues promoting it. While there isn’t much to go on with Scott he has a sound that is intoxicating and mysterious. Joyful guitar amongst lyrics that are the issues of every day, it’s hard to understand how we’ve gone as long as we have without checking out his music. His song “Floating” is a perfect example of how his uplifting ukelele riffs can make bad day instantly better. Have a listen:

If Scott has won you over like he did me then you’re not going to want to miss him this Friday (8/23) at the Beat Kitchen. Doors will be at 8pm and show is at 8:30pm. He’ll be opening up for Chicago’s own Mark Rose. The tickets are available for pre-order here and will cost you $10 (same as at the door but this way you know you got a ticket!)

In the mean time check out all Scott Sweeney and has to offer your ears. You can stream his all his awesome songs after the jump.
