Held annually in Union Park, North Coast Music Fest extends over the last weekend of August. The festival is largely electronic, featuring well-known artists such as Passion Pit, Purity Ring, and Big Gigantic. A handful of Midwestern talent is on the bill to support the headliners during summer 2013’s last stand. Check them out below:

The Heard | Friday 4:00 PM | Official

Chicago-based instrumental funk outfit, The Heard, is making their NCMF premiere. They’re known for playing sexy, brassy tunes during their kick-ass sets, and this reputation resulted in a weekly residence at AliveOne. Just yesterday, The Heard premiered a new track, “Pinch and Roll”. Check it out in all its jazzy glory below and then live on Friday:

Future Rock | Saturday 5:30 PM | Official

Push everything else out of your mind for this set. Future Rock plays pulsating electronic that will absolutely inspire irresponsible dancing. Future Rock are celebrated for their “legendary performances”, and this Chicago group’s heavy synth and bass are sure to create nothing short of a frenzy.

ON AN ON | Saturday 9:00 PM | Official

After Scattered Trees parted ways, some lingering studio time gave way to ethereal indie outfit, ON AN ON. The Minneapolis-based trio released their full-length album, GIVE IN, at the beginning of the year and have a full schedule of autumn shows, including Pygmalion Music Fest in September.

Danny Brown | Sunday 4:00 PM | Official

Hailing from Detroit is Danny Brown, hip hop artist described by MTV as “one of rap’s most unique figures in recent memory.” His music is undeniably debaucherous, but he is such an inventive rapper you can easily excuse the heavy subject matter. Danny Brown’s upcoming album, Old, is set to be released September 30, 2013.

JC Brooks & the Uptown Sound | Sunday 9:00 PM | Official

Chicago indie soul band, JC Brooks and the Uptown Sound, is closing out the NCMF weekend. JCBUS is such a Chicago staple, it’s hard to turn a corner without seeing them play. Heading to North Coast from a Saturday performance at Indianapolis’s WARM Fest, they’ll be prepared to bring an excellent performance to summer’s last stand.

We’re looking forward to North Coast and the energy it’s bound to bring to the city. Even though it’s a reminder that summer is coming to an end, we couldn’t celebrate an awesome concert season any better way.
