MWA Premiere: “Apart” by Mitch McLaughlin

From the South suburbs of Chicago, singer-songwriter Mitch McLaughlin is busy putting the finishing touches on his sophomore EP. A follow-up to his debut, Mitch McLaughlin is My Best Friend, released just three months ago, he isn’t wasting any time. The upcoming effort’s first single is titled “Apart”, and we are thrilled to be able to premiere the track right here on Midwest Action!

“Apart” is an airy acoustic piece sprinkled with percussive moments of spoken lyrics that work to ground the track and break its otherwise consistent melody. After building into the song’s strongest vocal moment, Mitch eases the track out with some laid-back whistling. We’re looking forward to hearing more of Mitch’s warm acoustic folk when the EP gets it’s full release in the next few weeks.

He told us a little about what we can expect from the release. “The overall feel of this EP is to keep sticking to what makes me happy, and that’s exploring other sub genres of folk with mixing new soft harmonies, and classic rocking chair on a front porch with a guitar style.
