MWA Premiere: “Bitch Jam” by Strawberry Jacuzzi

Fronted by Shannon Candy & Nikita Word (Formerly of Peekaboos/Summer Girlfriends) and backed by rhythm section Devon Press & Ross Tasch (of Kangaroo), Strawberry Jacuzzi is a total supergroup of Chicago’s DIY rock scene.

Their debut, Love Is For Suckers, is full of fun, catchy lo-fi pop tunes that would make The Vaselines proud (and maybe even a bit jealous). We’re damn glad to be premiering their new song “Bitch Jam” today on Midwest Action. Hear it here first!

With its “Be My Baby” drum intro you’re not exactly sure if you’re about to hear a Motown classic or some rare Jesus & Mary Chain demo, but what follows is pure garage pop bliss. Shannon is in true form, channeling her inner riot grrl and sounding like she’s singing through a tin can. It’s an energetic burst of rock and roll that is hard not to play on repeat. Easily a new favorite from the band, listen below:

In true Strawberry Jacuzzi form, it’s bouncy, catchy, but also more than your average cute pop tune.

Their next show is this Wednesday April 15th at The Empty Bottle with Bruiser Queen, and The Baby Magic. It’s presented by the ever-popular folks at Glitter Creeps, who really know how to throw a party once a month at the bottle. Don’t miss it, it’s only $5! RSVP Here.
