MWA Approved: Brite Winter – 2/15

Brite Winter is an outdoor, winter art and music festival in Cleveland, Ohio. The festival is a free event that is all about having fun and celebrating winter, rather than just tolerating it. With polar vortex after polar vortex hitting the region, it’d certainly be nice to celebrate being outside for a change.

The fifth annual Brite Winter Festival continues to flourish in the Ohio City’s Market District this weekend. The addition of new musicians, artists, sponsors, and partners will help make this the best Brite Winter yet.

Some personal highlights include sets by Silent Lions, Seafair, and the indie pop stylings of The Lighthouse and the Whaler. Listen to their 2012 release, This is an Adventure below. For a full line-up and schedule, click here (fair warning: it’s extensive).

Brite Winter focuses on art as well as music, this year featuring installation pieces by Sam Bogner, woven video art by Jessica Pinsky, and the Great Wall of Light by Cleveland Museum of Art, among many, many others. Take all of this, and add in fire-twirlers, foosball, and various craft and photo stations, and there’s no way you’ll leave feeling bitter about this Midwestern winter.
