I can’t think of a better way to kick off October than with a chilly day and the release of a Halloween-themed cover EP from some of our favorite local rockers, Mutts. The 3-track EP titled Ghoul Your Delusion is home to covers of tracks by Warren Zevon, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, and my personal favorite, Screamin’ Jay Hawkins’ “I Put A Spell On You”. If anyone can do justice to the inimitable Screamin’ Jay, it’s Mike Maimone.
Ghoul Your Delusion is available for free download until next Thursday, 10/8 when the price goes up to $3. If you’re planning on catching Mutts live in the next few months, you can still grab a free copy of the EP in person.
Mutts will be spending the rest of October and part of November on the road touring the East Coast and Midwest with Columbus Ohio’s Two Cow Garage. The tour kicks off next Friday right here in Chicago with a show at the Subterranean. Find tickets here and check out all of the dates below.
