Archie & the Bunkers

Give It a Spin: “I’m Not Really Sure What I’m Gonna Do” by Archie & the Bunkers

When music is described as “HI FI Organ Punk”, it might be hard for people to imagine what that sounds like. For Clevelanders lucky enough to have seen Archie & the Bunkers live, they know that it’s the hottest sound coming out of the Rust Belt. Brothers Emmett and Cullen O’Connor, who make up Archie & the Bunkers, haven’t even graduated high school yet, but are the coolest kids around playing sell out shows at the Beachland and will be embarking on a 2016 European tour in the spring.

Although there are only two members in the band, drummer Emmett and organist Cullen fuse their sounds together that fills a room with pulsating beats and screaming arpeggios. When Emmett sings, his growl would make the late great Cramps frontman, Lux Interior proud while Cullen’s spasmodic organ playing gives the crowd the green light to thrash and dance.

Pulling influences from The Mummies, The Damned and Jimmy Smith, Archie & the Bunkers have created a one-of-a-kind sound that’s sure to catch on. Check out the video to “I’m Not Really Sure What I’m Gonna Do” off their self-titled album that was released this past October.
